Nigerian Grammy-winning singer Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has revealed that music serves as a form of therapy for her, helping her release pain and heal emotionally.
The singer made this known in a recent interview with EE72 Magazine, where she explained that writing music allows her to process difficult emotions and move on from painful experiences.
According to Tems, she often feels whole again after putting her emotions into music, making it easier for her to forgive and let go of situations that have hurt her.
“Writing music helps me release pain and it helps me to heal.
“By the time I am done, everything I felt, it is gone. I can let the whole situation go. I can forgive. I can move on,” she said.
The singer also spoke about being unapologetic about her art and identity, stressing that she is not driven by the need to prove herself to others.
“I am not trying to prove who I am. I know what is for me and what is not for me.
“I am trying to take everything in and make the best of every single moment,” she added.
